In the Spirit of Things

Since I'm now in full Halloween mode, I thought I'd share with you a little spooky treasure that I have stored away.

This is some beautiful antique cobweb lace that once belonged to my great grandmother.

I have a few yards of it, some with straight edges on both sides, and some that is scalloped along the bottom.

I'd love to figure out a way to display it, but as for now it is put away in a box marked "memorabilia". If you have any ideas, please let me know. (NOTE: It is NOT for sale!)

It's That Time!

Yes, it's time for the Day of the Dead skull beads to come out of hiding!
I have just added the set of six as is shown in the photo to my eBay store, as well as individual beads in all of the colors.

I also have some skull beads in howlite this year that are listed as well. I think they're pretty cool.

Some fantastic Halloween decorations will be arriving next week.
Stay tuned!

It has been way too long since I posted Installment #1 of the fortune cards.
Here at last is Installment #2.

There you go! 9 more cards. I'll try to get Installments #3 and #4 up in a more timely fashion.

O is for Octopus

I'm sorry I have not posted in awhile, but I've been busy working on a swap project.

I have been painstakingly cutting, pasting, and embellishing 27 pages for a vintage inspired ABC book.

Each person participating in the swap is responsible for one letter. As you can see, I am the letter "O".

We are each to make 27 pages, which will be sent to our swap hostess Marian. She will then bind them for us into a complete ABC book for each person and send them back. We will also be donating a book to be sold in the Haiti By Hand Etsy shop.

We were asked to include on our pages a flower beginning with our chosen letter, and also a "virtue" beginning with the letter. My flower is oleander. Can you guess what my virtue is? Please submit your guess in the comments. There is no prize other than the satisfaction of guessing correctly.

I will be embellishing deep into the night all weekend to get these pages finished and in the mail.

I can't wait to get back the finished book so I can show you what the other participants have done!

Another Button Post

Look at all of these wonderful vintage buttons I just received!

They are all from an Etsy seller in Israel named Orit Dotan.

The seller has hundreds of vintage buttons listed, and her prices are very good.

I love the burgundy ones above with the open area inside - I've never seen any like them.

I also really like the little dark flower ones in the above photo. Actually, I really like them all. I have a project in mind for them, but due to my habit of severe procrastination, I will not describe the project yet. One day I'll just surprise you with pictures.

Newly Acquired - Vintage Buttons on Cards

I thought you'd like to see my newest vintage buttons on cards that I've gotten. I'm always on the lookout for them.

These flower buttons are plastic, but still nice.

This one isn't in the best condition, but I have never seen one like it with the Eiffel Tower.

The glass heart buttons on this fantabulous card each measure an inch across!
