Paper Tree Project

I have had a little time to relax this Christmas and do some craft projects strictly for fun. Here is a little tree I made from paper.

I used a tutorial that I saw mentioned awhile back on the Cafe Cartolina blog, that is originally from here. I used a tag shaped punch, because I didn't have one that was shaped like a leaf. The papers used are all vintage wallpapers, sheet music, and ledger papers. The beaded balls are also vintage. It is a fun little project that goes fairly quickly. I recommend if you have a little spare time that you try it!

Mitten Swap

The other day I received my mitten from the Mitten Swap I participated in, hosted by Heather from Speckled Egg.

The mitten I received is from Natalea of It is done in eyelet lace with a fabric and paper rosette and beautiful vintage lace detailing. It is full of 12 little gifts from all the participants. I've decided to wait until Christmas morning to open them all. I know it will be worth the wait! I'll post pictures. Stay tuned!

Decorations - Part 2

This is my feather tree on the dining room buffet. It is decorated with vintage ornaments that I have collected over the years.

This ornament was made by someone in my family, but no one can seem to remember who. I think it was my mother. It is my most special ornament and goes on the tree every year regardless of theme.

These ornaments were made in Japan, and have been around for as long as I can remember.

This funny lady was made by my mother out of an old stocking stretched over a styrofoam ball. She goes on my tree every year too.

I have another little feather tree waiting undecorated for my 12 Days of Christmas swap matchboxes that should be arriving any day now. When I get them, I will photograph that tree for you too.

Decorations - Part 1

I have been wanting to take some photos of my Christmas decorations for several days, but the weather has not been cooperating. So, here is the best I could do. We'll start outside with my wreath.

I made this wreath a few years ago, but I still like it, and I didn't feel like making a new one this year.

Next we move on to the mantelpiece in the dining room.

We start on the left, and move to the center...

If you've seen my Flickr page, you've seen these fellows before. I made them last year from instructions I found in "Cloth Paper Scissors" magazine. Apparently a lot of other people also made some, as you can find out if you do a search on Flickr for "snowman bottles". There are dozens of them!

Then we move to the right...

Here we see my collection of Czech rhinestone trees. They are not vintage, even though they look like they are. I purchase one each year from a manufacturer in the Czech Republic. This year I got the large one in the back. Actually, nothing on this mantelpiece is vintage, now that I think about it. The ornaments are from Anthropologie, Plumo, Martha Stewart, and various sellers on eBay.

Tomorrow I'll show you my feather tree which IS all done with vintage ornaments, including some beloved family treasures. Stay tuned!

New in Shop - Vintage Notions Paperweights

I have taken some of my favorite vintage button and notion cards and immortalized them by putting them in vintage glass paperweights.

They are currently available in my Etsy shop.

Also available now are my rhinestone snowflake magnets

and my "Tiny Dancer" ballerina magnets.

I have one last project in the works that will hopefully be ready by Sunday, and then the shop will be full.

Then I can focus on decorating my house!

A Little Etsy Spree

It has been a busy holiday season here at Fancylinda, and it seems like all I've been doing these days is shipping orders. But I did take some time awhile back to go on a little Etsy holiday shopping spree... for myself!

Well, all the items I purchased have arrived now, and here is what I got:

Some cute ceramic deer. I know they're not REINdeer, but I intend to use them in my holiday decorating.

Some fancy button cards, and a fabulous snowflake brooch. I am loving the pinks and the greens together.

The listing said this bird pin was plastic, but it's actually mother-of-pearl. Score!! And the earrings will be used as components in future bracelets.

Sweet little angel faces in original packaging.

I haven't put up my Christmas decorations yet, but I see a decorating theme emerging from these purchases. Lots of vintage in soft pinks, whites, and greens. I can do that! Stay tuned for photos...
